The garden projects at New Start Community Garden are largely the dream of our community, board members and volunteers. We love seeing people add to our space a little more every year.
We are currently installing a garden to attract more pollinators to our garden. Pollinator gardens are filled with plants that provide nectar to insects such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. These pollinators are essential to the health of our still developing garden.
Community Berry Patch
We also hope to add a community berry patch near our P Patch Plots with blueberries, raspberries, thornless blackberries, goji berries, mulberries, and more. These perennials take up more space than is logical for most of our renters to allot in their own plots. The berries were donated and we have begun building the beds and transplanting berries from out other berry patch in the Shark Garden.
Formal Portager Garden
A new historical potager garden is being planned for a section of the community garden and it will highlight herbs, medicinal plants, hardscape, and classical formal European style.
