Intro to African Soul Food with Chef Jalissa Horton

Chef Jalissa Horton will be showing us some recipes for African soul food from peri peri sauce to an Ethiopian cabbage dish. We'll get some cultural context about how African soul food is developing and changing and we'll have a chance to taste the results.

Jalissa Horton, owner of Chef Jalissa Culinary Co. Graduated from Johnson & Wales University, School of Culinary Arts and Florence University of Arts. Chef Jalissa Culinary co. provides, catering, virtual cooking classes, farmers market vending, and meal delivery services. Jalissa is a resident of the Tukwila area, and a member of the Food innovation network’s incubator program since 2019. Chef Jalissa takes pride in preparing delicious comfort food using flavors from around the world. Chef Jalissa’s southern comfort dishes reflect her family’s favorite recipes inspired by the African Diaspora.
